Senior Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics Expert

Postby Bram » Tue Sep 25, 2012 8:08 am

Do you Fancy moving to London?:

We are looking for a Senior Mass Spectrometry and Proteomics expert to join the Protein analysis and Proteomics (PAP) group at Cancer Research UK’s London Research Institute.

About the role

Mass spectrometry is now the key bioanalytical technology for the identification and quantification of proteins and their post-translational modifications. To maintain and expand its world class reputation it is essential that researchers at the LRI and the new Francis Crick Institute ( where the PAP group will be housed from 2016 have access to the latest mass spectrometry workflows and technology. We are therefore looking for an experienced and creative mass spectrometrist who is able to perform challenging mass spectrometry workflows (Data dependent, MRM, SILAC, iTRAQ, label free quantification, ETD, PTMs, crosslinking, etc). As a member of PAP you will be reporting to Dr Bram Snijders (Head of Protein Analysis and Proteomics) and in addition you will interact closely with scientists across the LRI to discuss work. You are expected to have a high level of intellectual input in the design of workflows and the analysis of data.

About you

The ideal candidate has a PhD degree in (Bio)chemistry, Molecular Biology, Proteomics or equivalent with several years of hands on mass spectrometry and data analysis experience in one of the above mentioned workflows. Candidates who have additional computational skills or experience in the use of mass spectrometry for structural proteomics are highly encouraged to apply.

About Cancer Research UK

• A PhD degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Proteomics or equivalent.
• Experience in proteomics workflows, e.g. SILAC, MRM, iTRAQ, label free quantification, ETD, PTMs, crosslinking, etc.
• Hands on experience with the operation, maintenance and trouble shooting of mass spectrometry equipment
• Experience with the proteomics analysis software such as Mascot, MaxQuant, Proteome Discoverer, Skyline, etc.
• Experience in working effectively in a technical multi-disciplined group.
